The Wednesday Market: Fall Has Arrived! Ordering is Open.

How do we know that the season has changed? Astronomical seasons depend on how the Earth moves around the sun. Equinoxes, when the sun lands equally on both hemispheres, mark the start of spring and autumn. Solstices, when the Earth sees its strongest tilt toward or away from the sun, kick off summer and winter. Yesterday was the autumnal equinox.
Did you know there are other ways to track seasons? For meteorologists, the seasons are defined by the months with temperatures and weather often associated with each. Summer, for example, runs from June through August, when temperatures feel most like “summer.”
My favorite season is summer. I must say, though, that the cooler weather of the last week or so is a welcome relief from the oppressive temperatures and humidity we have experienced this summer. Our home’s air conditioning units have taken turns being out of commission during some of the hottest weather we have had in years. Even my car’s air conditioning system had to be serviced a few weeks ago. Whew! Fall is a blessing!
Thank you for supporting Georgia Grown, no matter what season we’re in! We’ll see you at the Market.
Thanks,
Beverly

NashPhilly: Is back this week with his delicious Italian inspired meals.
Sunshine Farm: starting this week with fresh farm eggs…more items to come…believe me – many of you will be very happy!! It’s still a secret!
Linwood Lamb: We have several delicious cuts of lamb available this week.
Quarter Spring Farm: is proud to present pounds and pounds of perfectly pastured poultry products for your palate’s pleasure. Our scintillating skin softening soaps are suavely secented and smell supberb. We also have lamb products.
Arrington Farm: Welcome back to the market with their delicious breads.
Thweatt Things: Added a new item this week, the Walker Tote organizer fits over most walkers and makes a stable holder for newspapers, remotes, fiber arts and crafts, tissues, phones and water bottles. These lightweight totes are made of cotton and completely washable. These make great gifts for the elderly who rely on walkers for mobility. Or Mother’s with strollers to keep items handy.
The start-up of school means more time to sew and I’m doing just that. This fall I’m featuring handmade Egg-gathering Aprons in both adult and kids sizes. These are made from 100% cotton, pre-washed and machine washable and dryable for easy care. The pockets for the eggs are large enough to accommodate a larger egg (like a duck egg) or a couple of hen eggs. These could also be useful for crafting or any other activity where small pockets might come in handy. Check out my posts for pricing info. I can also customize them for you if you’d like a matching adult/child combo. Thanks for looking.
Lavendar Cottage: We have added some increased sizes! Delicious snack to lunch bags and just a mid-day treat….This week we are bring some Freeze Dried candies into the market along with our Freeze dried fruits and veggies. If anyone is looking for a particular freeze dried candy please by all means send me an email and I’ll do my best to have them available for next week. Freeze Dried Cantaloupe Bites, Golden Watermelon Bites, Gummy Geeks (Originally Nerd Gummy clusters), Dried Jalapeno Pepper, Dried Mixed Color Bell Pepper, Dried Rancher Puffs (Originally Jolly Ranches), Dried Scuttles (originally Skittles), Dried Strawberry Bites, Dried Sun Kist Cherry Tomatoes, Dried Taphy Bombs (aka Originally Salt Water Taffy), Dried Tomatoes and Dried Watermelon Bites.
Rainbow Hill Farm: Apples this week are Ambrosia, Fuji, Gala, Mutsu, Red Delicious, Yellow Delicious, all available in various sizes. Nothing like a delicious crisp apple during the hot weather!
Pinky’s Micros: You are missing out if you don’t eat these greens…healthy..put them in a smoothy, top you salads or sandwich, make rollups….Microgreens pack 40x more vital nutrients than their mature counterparts. Extremely dense in vital enzymes, minerals, vitamins, omega, and high does of chlorophyll. There aren’t many foods you could eat that are that packed of nutrients and harvested a day before delivery for freshness.
Put them on your sandwiches, top your salads, or use them in place of lettuce.*
Dogwood Valley Greenhouse: we have a large assortment of Fresh to cut herbs: Greek Oregano, Sweet Basil, Julep Mint, Lavender, Lemon Balm, Mixed Thyme, Orange Mint, Pepperment, Rosemary, Sage, Spearment and several herb plants you can plant at your home.

Middle Tennessee Locally Grown: The Market Is Open for Ordering
Middle Tennessee Locally Grown market
will be open for your orders till Tuesday evening at 10 pm.
Martin's Farmstand: Cauliflower and Mums
Here is an updated “available now” list from Martins Farm stand. Today we have some really good late sweet corn, lots of eggplant, green and yellow beans, and cauliflower. We also have limited amounts of broccoli. The pepper crop is really abundant and good this year. We are overstocked on lovely red peppers so I just changed the red pepper price to the same as green. This applies both to full boxes or retail amounts. The tomato plants are looking rough in the field which means that even though we have floods of tomatoes now that will change soon. If you want canning tomatoes this year sooner is better than later. We are digging sweet potatoes as needed for the stand for fresh eating. I will dig the whole field later either when we have frost or the soil temp gets too cold for farther growth. If you plan to stock up on storage sweet potatoes for the winter wait till after the main harvest. After digging them there is a 7 day curing process that makes a better storing potato. Daniel

Thank you for choosing Northeast Georgia Locally Grown as a way to support your local producers. This online farmers market allows you to buy directly from multiple farms committed to chemical-free and local produce all year long! CHEMICAL-FREE means produce and pastures grown without synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides. LOCAL means within 80 miles from the market pickup locations (usually much much closer). Do you know someone who grows chemical-free food in the area? Get them in touch with us. Know someone who wants fresh food? Spread the word. Put the two together, and that’s growing organically!
PICKUP TIME is Wednesday from 5-6:30 p.m.
If you do not get an email ORDER CONFIRMATION after you finish the checkout process, then your order is NOT complete. Head back to the market page, and your order might still be there waiting for you to check out! If you have any trouble or questions at all, we are here to help; simply reply to this email.
Once you place an order, be on the lookout for the order reminder email on Wednesday with further pickup and payment notes. Thanks for your support!
